Gather ’round the campfire—because I’m telling the story of how my client went from doubting her new niche and nearly giving up… to 4,000+ email subscribers, 1,000 TikTok followers, and revenue that passed her TPT sales—in just 30 days.


So is it nitch or neesh? Honestly, both are acceptable. Clarity matters more than pronunciation. And today, we’re talking about how to now if your niche is going to make you rich.(Side note, any time I use that phrase I think nitch bc I can’t pass up a rhyming opportunity lol).

Finding your niche means identifying the specific group of people you’re uniquely equipped to serve—and knowing, deep in your bones (and data), that they want what you have to offer.

But here’s the real question: How do you know when you’ve found it?

If you’ve ever wondered what it actually means to find your niche, and how to know when you’ve hit it—this post will walk you through the process using a real-life example from one of my private coaching clients.

Let’s look at a real-life story of one of my clients who was this close to giving up… until she spotted the green lights.

Should I Start Over In a New Niche?

My client had an established TPT store serving elementary teachers. But her heart? It was being pulled toward serving principals. Trouble is, TPT isn’t exactly crawling with them.

She didn’t know if her new direction was a pipe dream or a smart shift. There was zero data to validate it. She wanted to find a new niche—but how could she know it would work?

This is where I introduced her to the strategy I use with every client who scales sustainably: green lighting your growth.

It’s a framework for spotting small, meaningful data signals that whisper, “keep going.” Think of it as the difference between wishful scaling and wise scaling.

What Are “Green Lights”?

Green lights are early indicators that your audience, content, or offer is working. They’re not blow-the-doors-off wins. They’re micro-metrics that show traction is happening.

They’re small signs that help you know if something is working. (Not big wins—just little clues that you’re headed in the right direction.)

The beauty of green lights: You don’t need massive success to know you’re on the right track. You just need enough proof points to make informed decisions about where to invest your energy.

They show up as:

  • Someone actually buys—even if just one out of four people say yes.
  • Your email list starts growing with the right people faster than before.
  • Comments and DMs turn into real conversations, not just likes and scroll-bys.
  • You make money from your pivot, even if it’s not a huge launch yet.

These signals help you know when you’ve found a viable niche—not just one you love.

Step 1: Clarify the Message for the New Niche

We restructured her offers and clarified her niche messaging. I dove deep into her background, philosophy, and differentiators until we uncovered her standout angle. That became the cornerstone of everything we built.

Then we ran a tiny test offer to 150 people.

Only four responded. One person bought. It felt like failure.

But that one person? That was a 25% conversion rate.

Step 2: Stack the Right Audience

The problem wasn’t her offer—it was her reach.

We needed more of the right eyeballs.

Her first ad flopped (it was the typical freebie inside a laptop static Canva mockup, no surprise). So I gave her my Off-the-Cuff Car Ad strategy:

Film in your car. Say these exact things. Keep it casual.

The result? Her list grew from 150 to 4,000 principals in 30 days. The ad worked.

Step 3: Let the Data Speak

Instead of jumping into a polished promo or fancy funnel, we paused—and watched.

As her email list of principals grew, we monitored every micro-conversion:


• Were they downloading her lead magnet?
• Were they replying to her welcome emails?
• Were they buying her low-ticket offer without a sales sequence?

Yes, yes, and yes.

She made back her TPT revenue from this brand-new audience—quietly, without a webinar, cart open countdown, or early-bird bonus in sight.

That’s the power of letting the data lead. When you’ve found the right niche, sometimes the simplest sales flow confirms it. Can I get an amen?

Step 4: Test a New Platform

If you’re not gaining traction where you’re showing up, don’t double down—diversify.

“Going where the growth is” means testing new platforms, formats, or channels until you find the one where your voice sticks and your niche actually responds.

Now, here’s what that looked like for my client:

Her Instagram had been stuck for years.
The same posts. The same energy. The same results: not much.

So, we pivoted to TikTok. It was a blank slate with big potential.

I helped her script a few messaging-forward videos rooted in her new niche. She committed to posting consistently.

In 29 days?

✅ 1,000 followers
✅ Real comments and questions
✅ More engagement than years on IG combined

She told me: “I’ve had more real interaction in a month on TikTok than years on IG.”

How to Know You’ve Found the Right Niche (Even If the Numbers Start Small)

It’s easy to miss the miracle in early numbers. One buyer out of four may look like a letdown. But with green light strategy? It’s a launchpad.

Her biggest advantage? She iterated fast. No mindset spirals. No tech rabbit holes. She took action and got data. That’s how we moved fast—and smart.

We shifted her from Is this worth it? to How do we maximize this?

✅ A legit TikTok audience (hello, link in bio!)
✅ 4,000+ email subscribers—and growing
✅ An ad formula that works
✅ Messaging that converts

We’re done asking, “Can this new niche make me money?” Now we optimize.

3 Mistakes People Make Before They Find Their Niche

Before you can confidently say you’ve found your niche, here are three common pitfalls to avoid:

  1. Quitting too soon. If only four people saw your offer, one buyer is amazing. You don’t need more validation—you need more volume baby girl.
  2. Relying on stagnant platforms. If IG isn’t working, test TikTok. If TikTok isn’t clicking, test YouTube. New platforms = fresh data. Fresh data = better decisions. My 8th grade self would say, don’t be scurred to test new platforms from scratch. You’ve got nothing to lose, and traction to gain. K? K.
  3. Skipping the micro-test. If you don’t test it small, you can’t trust it big. Before you plan a full-blown launch, run a micro-offer, pitch a bite-sized beta, or validate your niche with a tiny test. Big launches without proof? Expensive, exhausting, and 9 times out of 10… avoidable. Start with a whisper before you shout. The data will tell you when it’s time to turn up the volume.

What Should You Do If Early Results Look Disappointing?

She was so discouraged when only one person bought initially. The timing was end of school year, so that mattered too. This is totally normal your first 30 days in a new niche.

Even the early ads weren’t getting traction. Initial ads were static photos, not the freebies themselves. So, remember? We did a lot of fast pivoting.

I can’t emphasize this enough: Her success is 100% tied to her ability to iterate fast. It’s mind-blowing how quickly she can implement what I tell her to do.

Now with that, there’s a blessing and a curse of fast action takers: I have to be careful they don’t go 100 miles per hour in the wrong direction, because that’s where self-confidence starts to drop.

That’s where she found me. She’d done so many things, built so fast, then got frustrated when things didn’t work out.

We’re leveraging that gift to iterate fast and get answers fast. Now she’s not frustrated or stuck.

Don’t force something. Experiment, try, look for green lights. The data will tell you when to pivot and when to push through.

Friend, finding your niche isn’t a lightning strike. It’s a series of little green lights.

Green lights tell you to “go”. (Not slam-the-gas-pedal go—more like keep walking go.)

What Should You Do If Early Results Look Great?

So the beauty is, for this particular client, we’re now working with totally different numbers than how this school year ended.

This school year ended with her having no traction anywhere for the principal audience on organic platforms.

Going into back-to-school season, she’ll have:

  • A legit TikTok audience (now she can put links in bio at 1,000+ followers)
  • Way more than 4,000 email subscribers (we’re heading to 10,000 next)
  • A viable audience to actually test offers with
  • An ad formula that works for her audience, style, and messaging

The audience issue was the real problem. Now we have a viable audience, so we can truly test offers.

And for her next phase? We’ll look for green lights with what she’s selling and how she’s selling it. Her promotions, the actual marketing of her products, getting eyeballs on her new offers.

That’s going to be huge because we actually have an audience to tap into.

Since recording this podcast, we have new green lights sprouting up everywhere.

Her podcast numbers are rising even though we haven’t focused on podcast growth yet.

Everything is clicking. We have a lot more to figure out, but the green lights work.

So once you have enough green lights stacked, you press the gas pedal and start dialing in the strategies that are working.
